All American Baseballlllllll

We took Luke to his first baseball game. I could leave it at that but we ate ice cream and hotdogs, loved on good ol' America, talked to rednecks, and threw some baseballs too. We even got in for free thanks to a sweet lady in the parking lot. Cach-ing$

Yep, I said yep, Luke threw the baseball with the big boys. For some reason, and that reason might be that they are the Mudcats, the stadium was not full so we sat anywhere we wanted. It was a gorgeous night and got me really pumped for fall weather.

The wind was blowing a cool breeze as we sang the national anthem and I got a little emotional. Imagine that. Baseball is such the American sport. At the risk of being a goober, it really does make be feel sentimental. There was this old man with his grandson (my head is blocking him) sitting behind us. It was so sweet to see them together....even though the grandson kept saying "hey batta batta" when no one was up to bat. Ok..he was like 4 years old.

I really hope Luke wants to play baseball. I think it is a great "starter sport". I remember when I played softball. I played left field for a while before they conned me into playing catcher. "You are in control of the game" they plugged. Really I was just covered head to toe in red NC clay every night. I did get to talk trash though. That is when I first learned to spit.

....just kidding...I don't do that....without my helmet on.  I do crave a good batting cage every now and then though. Any takers??

You and Luke have the exact same eye shape! He looks like your mini-me in this pic!
